The Wedding Ceremony of Graceann & Ray
1. The Welcome & Gathering
(The guests are seated. The wedding party and the couple have made their entrance.)
Officiant:
"Family, friends, and loved ones, welcome. We are gathered here today to celebrate one of life’s greatest moments—to witness and honour the joining of Graceann and Ray in marriage.
They have invited you here today because each of you has touched their lives, supported them, and helped shape the people they are today. By being here, you are promising to support them not just today, but in all the days and years to come as they build their life together."
2. The Address on Love and Partnership
Officiant:
"A great marriage is not something that just happens; it is something that is carefully and lovingly created. It is a decision to love, even on the days when it isn't easy. It is finding the person who makes your good times twice as bright and your difficult times half as heavy.
Graceann and Ray, today you are taking a beautiful step forward. You are promising to walk side-by-side, to listen to one another, to laugh together, and to grow together. You are choosing to be each other’s greatest supporter, deepest comfort, and favorite adventure partner.
As you stand here today, remember that the strength of your marriage will come from the quiet moments of kindness, the shared laughter, and the unwavering respect you show to one another every single day."
3. The Declaration of Intent
Officiant:
"Ray, do you take Graceann to be your lawfully wedded wife? Do you promise to love her, comfort her, honour and keep her, in sickness and in health, and, forsaking all others, remain true to her for as long as you both shall live?"
Ray:
"I do."
Officiant:
"Graceann, do you take Ray to be your lawfully wedded husband? Do you promise to love him, comfort him, honour and keep him, in sickness and in health, and, forsaking all others, remain true to him for as long as you both shall live?"
Graceann:
"I do."
4. The Vows
(Note: If Graceann and Ray are writing their own vows, they can be read here. Otherwise, they can repeat these classic, heartfelt promises after the officiant.)
Officiant to Ray:
"Ray, please repeat after me:"
"Graceann, I take you to be my wife.
I promise to love you for who you are,
to stand by you through whatever life brings,
to celebrate your joy,
and to hold you close in times of sorrow.
You are my best friend,
and I choose you today, tomorrow, and forever."
Officiant to Graceann:
"Graceann, please repeat after me:"
"Ray, I take you to be my husband.
I promise to love you for who you are,
to stand by you through whatever life brings,
to celebrate your joy,
and to hold you close in times of sorrow.
You are my best friend,
and I choose you today, tomorrow, and forever."
5. The Exchange of Rings
Officiant:
"May we have the rings, please?
These rings are circles with no beginning and no end. They are a physical symbol of the unbroken, endless love and commitment you have promised each other today. Every time you look at your hand, may you be reminded of this moment, of these promises, and of the love you share."
Officiant to Ray:
"Ray, place this ring on Graceann’s finger and repeat after me:"
Ray:
"Graceann, I give you this ring as a symbol of my love and commitment. With all that I am, and all that I have, I choose you."
Officiant to Graceann:
"Graceann, place this ring on Ray’s finger and repeat after me:"
Graceann:
"Ray, I give you this ring as a symbol of my love and commitment. With all that I am, and all that I have, I choose you."
6. The Pronouncement & The First Kiss
Officiant:
"Graceann and Ray, you have stood before your favourite people, made your promises to one another, and sealed those promises with the exchanging of rings.
By the power vested in me, it is my absolute joy to pronounce you husband and wife!
Ray, you may kiss your bride!"
(The couple kisses. The crowd cheers!)
7. The Recessional
Officiant:
"Family and friends, it is my distinct honor to introduce to you for the very first time as partners for life: Mr. and Mrs. Ray and Graceann!"
(Upbeat music plays, and the couple walks down the aisle hand-in-hand.)
